Knitted Jacquard Fabric

What is Knitted Jacquard Fabric? It's a type of patterned fabric woven on a jacquard loom. Jacquard designs are complex and usually involve the intentional skipping of the warp yarns over the weft yarns. A silk jacquard is a classic example. Other types of jacquard fabrics are available, such as woven chenille and silk chenille.

Jacquard was named after Joseph Marie Jacquard, a weaver who invented the technique. He spent his youth weaving in France as a draw boy, and was inspired to improve working conditions for people. He was adamant that workers should have better conditions. He worked with his father to perfect this process, and soon he was weaving on a jacquard loom in the South of France.

Another type of knitted jacquard fabric is dual layer. This type of jacquard fabric is one piece, with both layers of yarn having a different pattern. Customers can choose the color and thickness of the double layer to create a unique garment. In addition to apparel, knitted jacquard is also useful as a luggage case. It is also suitable for home textiles. And it will make for an attractive and functional garment.

This type of jacquard fabric is considered luxurious and is highly prized for its ornamental properties. Although it's not commonly used for clothing production, it's used for upholstery and high-end homewares. Before the advent of the Jacquard loom, complicated weaving of ornamental fabric was an extremely complex and expensive process. But now, jacquard looms make the process much faster and cost-effective.

Unlike woven fabrics, jacquard knits are reversible. The yarns used to create jacquard patterns are inserted into a special mechanical loom. This gives jacquard knits an additional level of stretch, drape, and breathability. This type of jacquard knit is ideal for sweaters and other garments that need to be warm and cosy. Unlike wool, jacquard knits also have a lower carbon footprint than their woven counterparts.

Historically, Jacquard looms operated on punch cards. Today, however, computerized jacquard looms are used to produce complex designs. Using punch cards meant punching holes in paper was a highly time-consuming and laborious process. But today, thanks to computerization, jacquard looms are more efficient than ever. With the ability to create highly detailed designs using computer programming, jacquard looms can be used to produce a wider range of textile products.

Brocatelle and damask fabrics are similar but are created using a Jacquard loom. Brocatelle is woven in a wider spectrum of colors and patterns and has raised surfaces. Like brocade, brocatelle and damask fabrics are durable and reversible. Matalasse and brocatelle fabrics are commonly used to make pillow shams and coverlets.

The beauty of jacquard fabric is that it combines the sophistication of traditional weaving with the comfort of modern knitwear. It is durable, wrinkle-resistant, and perfect for everyday wear. In addition, they won't fade or become unfashionable. You can even pair a jacquard fabric with a classic denim shirt and leather jacket. These versatile pieces can be worn for any occasion, including the office or a social outing.
