How to save water in the bathroom?

We live in times when saving water is not just a fashion for being eco-friendly, but a necessity. The motivation to use less water should accompany us every day in our everyday lives. It's not just about the health of our wallets, although that is important, but also about the increasing scarcity of water on the planet. So how can we live a green lifestyle and take care of our finances? By reducing our water consumption in the bathroom, for example.

Saving water is not difficult - you just need to develop a few habits. The simplest one is to turn off the tap when shaving or brushing your teeth, which can waste up to 9l per minute. It's also worth taking a quick shower more often instead of a bath every day. If you want to make a real contribution to saving water, think about buying the right accessories that will make it easier for you to achieve your goal.

A shower is a great solution - aesthetically pleasing and very functional, which can also have an impact on your wallet. To be sure that thanks to it we will manage to save a bit on water bills, it is worth thinking about a model with a deep shower tray, which can serve as a small bathtub.

This option is particularly suitable for families with children. Firstly, less water will be poured than into a standard-sized bathtub. Secondly, the water won't splash all over the bathroom when the children are playing, because the shower enclosure's glass panels protect against that.

n addition, it is worth making sure that the cubicle is watertight. If it is not, it may also have an impact on our costs connected with wasting water. When buying a shower enclosure, pay attention to whether it has, for example, a magnetic strip ensuring the tightness of the enclosure and elastomeric seals which will be resistant to temperature and humidity changes. Thanks to this we will be sure that the chosen product will not let water through and we will be able to use it for many years.

Another way to make bathing economical is to shorten its time. During a 10-minute shower we can use as much as 180l of water, which is almost the same as in a bathtub. However, limiting the shower time to 4 minutes will reduce water consumption to 60 litres.

Important accessories

For a more economical shower, which uses up to 30% less water, a rainshower is the perfect addition to our bathroom. A rainshower has small holes, which makes the strength of the spray smaller, but still sufficient for a comfortable showering experience. However, if we prefer a traditional hand shower, when choosing a particular product it is worth to pay attention to the fact that it has a perlator, i.e. a built-in mesh.

It aerates the water stream, which in turn reduces its flow by as much as 40-60%. As users, we will not feel any change, and to our eyes it will seem that the same amount of water is flowing from the tap. There are also more technologically advanced thermostatic mixers available on the market that block the flow of water at a temperature lower than the one we have programmed. However, the most economical are the touchless models because with them the water flows only when the sensor detects the presence of hands. This solution, although the most expensive, best fulfils its economic role.

And when we have a bathtub

A long bath is a wonderful relaxation for body and mind. If you like to lie down in a bathtub filled to the brim, you can expect to use up to 200 litres of water at one time. So let's use such baths for relaxation from time to time. But what if you only have a bathtub at home? Fortunately, there are solutions that will easily convert it into a space with a shower. It is enough to buy a bathtub screen, which is mounted on the edge of the bathtub so that it serves as protection during bathing. It is safe, made of tempered glass and fits into any interior.

A bathtub screen is the perfect compromise for people who want a long, relaxing bath one day and a short, refreshing and water-saving shower the next.
