How to Fix a Dryer That Won't Start?

To figure out how to fix a dryer that won't start, we'll need to disassemble the appliance to find the problem. First, turn off the power source to the appliance. Then, unplug it from the outlet. If the problem is on the start switch, you'll need some diagnostic tools. Once the appliance is unplugged, you'll need to remove the front console panel cover. If necessary, you'll need to remove the trim as well. Snap the front console panel cover back into place after you're finished.

Check The Gas Valve

If the heat doesn't start after pressing the button, the problem may lie with the igniter. Check the igniter's condition by using a multimeter. If it is glowing brightly, the igniter is working properly. If it doesn't, check the igniter for faulty parts. It can be found inside the panel or internal components of the dryer. To fix the problem, follow these steps:

  1. To disassemble the dryer, unscrew the two set screws holding the door switch and the gas valve.
  2. Unplug the dryer, disconnect the grounding wire, and close the gas valve.
  3. Disconnect the gas valve from the dryer's gas supply valve.
  4. Remove the top of the gas valve coils and replace them with new ones. Check the door switch if you've tried all of these steps and still the gas is leaking.

Clean The Lint Screen

First, to fix a dryer that won't start, check the lint trap screen. If it is filled with lint, this area needs to be cleaned. This part of the dryer's interior needs to be cleaned frequently to prevent heavy buildup. If the screen is attached to the dryer with screws, remove them and clean the screen by hand. Use warm soapy water to clean the screen. If it isn't removable, a lint roller will work well.

If you've removed the lint screen and cleaned it with a damp cloth, place it back into the lint trap. Next, clean the dryer's vent system. Located on the back or bottom, the vent is usually made of flexible aluminum tubing or piping. Clean the vent screen regularly to prevent overheating and fire. If the screen is clean and the vent is clean, the dryer should start without further problems.

Replace The Main Control Board

If your dryer does not start, you might need to replace the main control board. This is a costly process that may not fix the problem completely. It may be necessary to replace the board if other parts are not in bad shape. However, replacing the board is not the best option. It is not always possible to check if the part is functioning properly, so you may have to replace it.

To replace the main control board for a dryer that will not start, you must first remove the front control panel. This cover is usually located on the left side of the dryer. It looks like an 8-inch-square box. You must unscrew the screws holding the panel in place to access the circuit board underneath. Then, you can remove the control panel. Replace the cover and test the dryer by turning on the power switch.

Clean The Exhaust Vent

First, clean the exhaust vent. It's located outside your house and maybe dirty. Clean it with a vacuum cleaner. If the lint gets trapped in the vent, it's time to clean it. You can purchase a vent cleaning kit online or hire a professional team of Dryer Repair in Dubai to clean it. Make sure to use the right nozzle and cleaning materials. If your dryer still doesn't start, call a professional to help you diagnose the problem.

Next, unplug the dryer's power supply. If it's gas, turn off the shut-off valve in the gas supply line and disconnect the exhaust vent pipe. Next, take the brush and push it into the duct, following all the bends and corners. Then, use a multimeter to check for continuity. Finally, check for any blockage in the exhaust vent, which could have caused the thermal fuse to blow.
