Australia is one of the best overseas destinations to work and settle down permanently. It is the world’s sixth-largest country. It is economically growing. Every year, a list of occupation releases by the country sighting labour shortage in some fields like health, agriculture, dairy, and manufacturing. The shortage cannot be fulfilled within the country. Therefore, they hire foreign workers under various work visas. 482 vs. 186 Visas


It is not easy to settle down in Australia as a permanent resident. A suitable way is to first apply for a provisional visa and then PR. A TSS visa name appears first when it comes to applying for a provisional work visa. The visa lets Australian employers to hire overseas workers for a limited duration. Later, they can apply for PR.


A 186 visa is a permanent work visa to settle down in the country permanently. Employers nominate overseas workers to live and work in the country for unlimited duration. It is the direct way to apply for PR in Australia.


The 482 visa is divided into several streams. The Short-Term Stream is offered to stay in the country for 2 years. The Medium-Term Stream is to address labour shortages to bring overseas skilled workers for 4 years. The Labour Agreement Stream allows employers to nominate workers who have a labour agreement.


The 186 visa has three streams. One of the most popular streams is the Direct Entry Stream. The visa is granted to applicants whose occupation is in the occupation list. The Labour Agreement Stream gives permits skilled employers with a labour agreement to hire employees on a permanent basis. The Temporary Residence Transition Stream is granted to the workers who hold a 457, TSS, or are associated with Bridging visa A, B, or C.


Similarities between 482 and 186 Visas


There are a few similarities between these two visas.


Employers of Australia nominate overseas workers. Applicants cannot apply for these visas directly.


The following occupation must be in the eligible skilled occupation list. If the occupation is not in the list, applicants cannot apply for any of these visas.


It is necessary to have skills for the job applicants have got nomination for this.


English knowledge to work and live in Australia is necessary. However, the 482 visa requires functional English knowledge whereas the 186 visa requires competent English.
