What to choose for your shopping platform? Shopify or HubSpot

Today trading online is a part and parcel of life, whether it is buying or selling. We all know that the way we shop has evolved. But, that’s not it, online shopping itself has changed over phases from what it was at the time of introduction. That was from about 40 years ago. It was initiated with a simple cable TV connection, a transaction-processing computer that was linked to a telephone cable. Now you can do internet shopping in just a few clicks at any time from anywhere. Thanks to the introduction of e-commerce software like Shopify. Today there are plenty of options for us consumers to choose from. But did you know Shopify wasn’t the first to come into the market…

Amazon was the first one to develop an e-commerce software in 1995 only for book sales, after which in 1998 PayPal was introduced as the one and only e-payment system for online transaction support. Following these two, Ali Baba and the others were launched. Then it was not only about having a specific online marketplace for a single store. Many e-commerce platforms started rising! They hosted multiple sellers and online stores under one domain or app. This was alongside the launch of Shopify in 2004.

As mentioned earlier there’s a vast collection of e-commerce software and apps available today!

Here is the top e-commerce software that will get your online store up and running:

Shopify

HubSpot

WordPress (woo-commerce)

Magento

BigCommerce

SalesForce

SquareSpace

Wix

PrestaShop

Template Monster

Today we’ll get to know a bit about the top 2 so that you can make the right choice for your online store! What’s it going to be Shopify or HubSpot!

Here we go!

First, we’ll talk about Shopify, the veteran stand-alone e-commerce dedicated solution!

Shopify is a SaaS cloud-based platform that helps you set up an online store or even carry out personal sales with its POS. Today Shopify has over a million users across the world. This has made it the choicest eCommerce software available. It fits perfectly with all types of business. The software is available on a monthly subscription basis. It provides a variety of plans and features that change with the price. So, take your pick.  It offers extensive plug-ins and integrations so that you can boost your marketplace’s performance.

Like every software has a method and a goal. HubSpot and Shopify also have their own process for developing an online store. The benefits they give are different too!

Here’s the step-by-step method of Shopify online store development!

First, go to the official Shopify website and sign-up, now go on and take the free trial to start setting up.

Give your store a unique name.

Enter your personal details as asked

Now give out the business-related details as required

Select ‘I’m done once you’re done

Let’s start the store setup

Once you’ve finished signing up, you will be redirected to the admin screen of your store. Just start uploading products, store customization, and payment & shipping option setup in-line with the business requirement.

Now the designing part

Did you know you can choose your theme/layout from Shopify itself?! It has its own theme store. Here you can choose between the generic free designs or the highly attractive paid ones. Whatever suits you! You can modify all the templates to personalize. They come with a list of modifications you can make with your store. Say bye to coding!!

We’ll edit your online store now

The themes of Shopify make the most minor tweaks look elegant. This plays a great part in making your online store interactive. So, hurry onto your Shopify admin screen and select ‘Themes’ from the left navigation menu.

Your theme will be displayed at the top in a box on your ‘Themes Page’. Now you will see two buttons namely ‘Actions’ and ‘Customize’ on the right. If you select ‘Actions’ the basic changes will be displayed, according to the earlier settings, you could also create a copy, what if second thoughts start hitting you.

Now if you choose ‘Customize’ you will get a redirect to the page that controls your store’s basic functionality. Now start uploading logos, carousel, and related items, select product display quantity, color schemes, and font choices. You can even reposition store elements and insert social proofing.

Let’s add products to your online Shopify store!

On the left click on ‘Products’ and then select ‘Add a Product’. On the following screen just start adding the product details such as name, description, and URL. Do not forget to check that it’s all Search Engine Optimised! Now start with the image uploading and arranging the way you like. Next select ‘Save Product’ in the right corner of your screen. Create different product collections manually or automatically by setting up the selection conditions.

It’s almost done, now’s the time to set up a payment gateway!

Navigate to settings and select ‘Payments’ and now link the store to the payment player of your choice, Stripe or Shopify’s very own, Shopify Payments or the vintage PayPal. You can even enable the choice of card usage, debit, credit, or smart. You can also allow offsite payment check-out for authenticated and secure payments.

You’re set! Now you just fill out a few more personal, taxation, and shipping details under the settings category, ‘Product Page' and ‘Shipping Page’ as and how it is required.

Don’t live it yet! Hang on there

Did you forget to test the order system on Shopify!

Get on and use Shopify’s Bogus Gateway.

Go to Settings then Payments, now navigate to the accept credit cards section after deactivating the set credit card gateway. Now, click on ‘Select A Credit Card gateway’, then Other, and in the end the Bogus gateway. Now activate the credit card gateway you had set earlier and publish it!

That was the entire Shopify development process.

Now Let’s Have A Look At HubSpot

HubSpot has proven to be one of the most progressive software, that’s because it emerged from a great idea. An idea of attracting customers following inbound methodologies organically. HubSpot takes care of all your business operations efficiently then be it sales, marketing, web development, or even client servicing. One of the prime features is its web development. It doesn’t involve traditional coding, however, if you want a highly dynamic product, you can type in codes in its own language, HubL. Otherwise, it’s so effortless, that everything’s done in just a few clicks. Some people confuse it for a CRM and some for a CMS, but it’s actually a COS, i.e Content Optimization System.

Here’s how you can create your HubSpot ECommerce website!

Well, we all know that HubSpot is a web development platform too! You can surely build a website for your online store, but without the e-Commerce factor, because it isn’t in-built. But you can do so by integrating from the marketplace. Here’s the procedure…

First off go to your HubSpot website portal.

Now click on the marketplace icon on the navigation bar and select app marketplace.

Type in the software you want to integrate within the search bar.

Install the app from the upper right of your screen.

Enter your e-commerce URL in the dialog box and click connect.

After this a pop-up window will emerge on the screen, just put in your credentials and log in.

Once you are logged in, you will be redirected to HubSpot and you will witness the app is connected. You can check import progress from the app and modify sync settings by clicking on go to e-commerce settings.

Let’s customize the sync settings now!

Click on the marketplace icon on your HubSpot portal and select connected apps under ‘Manage’.

Then select E-commerce

Select one from One-way or two-way sync!

The one-way sync will be enabled by default. Here all your other app data will be synced with HubSpot, but HubSpot data won’t be shared with the other app.

You can select two-way sync from the data sync section of your e-commerce settings. Click on turn on in the dialog box and enter the other app credentials. This will sync all the contact properties of both apps.

The integration is done.

Now we’ll look into the benefits of HubSpot E-commerce development!
