What should sellers know about Amazon SP-API?

The new Amazon Selling Partner API makes it easy for sellers to access their data programmatically through an interface. Amazon SP-API can be integrated with other applications also. Through the new and revised API released by Amazon, selling partners will be able to automate how their data is accessed through an interface that easily integrates with their programs. The benefits for sellers are significant, so the sellers need to understand what 

they can do with the new Selling Partner API. 


Moreover, the new API has added roles and benefits which will not only be applied to sellers, which was the case in Amazon MWS but will also be available to vendors. Amazon MWS had 3 roles, whereas Amazon SP API has 11, which are stated below:


  • Brand Analytics: It entails insights into a seller's or in this case even vendor’s performance and consumer behavior concerning the seller's brand. 


  • Product Listing: This role assists in the creation and management of product listings.


  • Pricing: This role is responsible for determining the prices of the lists and automating product pricing.


  • Amazon fulfillment: It generates sales reports, order tracking reports, and all order fulfillment operations.


  • Buyer communication: this role entails assisting customers with queries about their orders.


  • Buyer Solicitations: This role delivers solicitations to buyers who have received their orders for review and feedback.


  • Selling Partner Insights: This feature provides an overview of the seller's performance and participation in all marketplaces and generates reports on it.


  • Finance and accounting: It prepares financial statements for sellers and vendors.


  • Inventory and order management:  It is in charge of all inventory-related tasks. It also manages all processes that occur after a customer places a purchase order until the order is received.


  • Direct-to-shipping: It eliminates the need for third-party logistics. After the seller ships the products to Amazon, they are delivered directly to the customer with the help of this role.


  • Tax invoicing: To make tax regulations easier, this feature aids in the creation of tax invoices.


  • Tax Remittance: It calculates sales taxes for Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) Sales Reports, Order Reports, and operations that return order information.


Finally, Amazon has made the necessary changes to ensure a smooth and easy transition. To start optimizing the Amazon Selling Partner API, you have to register only once, in your desired marketplace and region.  And you need only your AWS access key ID and secret access key to get started. Amazon Selling Partner API is still in its formative stages of implementation, but sellers have already begun to use it. Amazon Marketplace Web Services will no longer be available after December 31, 2023. As a result, existing sellers must understand the significance of the new API partner.
