Members of the alliance included Google, Samsung, HTC, Motorola, and other brands. They announced various versions of Android to be released in the market called ‘Cupcake’, ‘Donut’, ‘Eclair’, ‘Froyo’, and later the famous ‘Kitkat’. Google also explained why all the software was named after foods. Stating that this is because the software experience is ‘sweet’. The first Android phone was the T Mobile G1 or HTC Dream, as it was called outside the United States. Initial reviews were mixed, but there was a unanimous understanding that it had great potential.

They may have had to shell out a lot of cash, but that hasn’t stopped people from buying an iPhone. If you look at the best-selling phones of all time, you will see that it is at the top of the early Nokia phones. If you look at the operating system’s historical market share, you’ll find that in 2009 Android was barely breaking out of the block and iOS was at the fore. But Android has enjoyed an 80 percent market share since 2013, a bit of a give-or-take over and over again.
