Brief introduction of Viton rubber
The rubber molecule contains fluorine atoms. The C-F composed of fluorine atoms and carbon atoms has high performance. At the same time, the fluorine atom has a great adsorption effect, which enhances the C-C bond performance in the fluorocarbon molecular chain, and increases with the increase of its fluorination degree. Enhanced, the fluorine atom can better shield the C-C primary bond to ensure the chemical inertness of the C-C bond. This special molecular structure enables Viton rubber to have excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance, solvent resistance, fluorination resistance, vacuum resistance, oil resistance, aging resistance and other specific properties.
The main types of Viton rubber are 26 type, 246 type, 23 type; tetrapropylene Viton rubber, fluorosilicone rubber, hydroxynitroso Viton rubber, fluorinated phosphazene rubber, perfluoroether rubber.
The main properties of Viton rubber
1. Chemical stability
Viton rubber has a high degree of chemical stability, which is the best medium resistance among all elastomers at present. Type 26 Viton rubber is resistant to petroleum-based oils, diester oils, silicone ether silicic acid oils, inorganic acids, and most organic solvents, but not low molecular ketones, ethers, esters, amines, ammonia, Hydrofluoric acid, chlorosulfonic acid, phosphoric acid hydraulic oil. Type 23 is more unique, and its resistance to strong oxidizing inorganic acids such as fuming nitric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid is better than type 26.
2. Excellent high temperature resistance
The high temperature resistance of Viton rubber is the same as that of silicone rubber, which can be said to be the best among the current elastomers. 246>26>23
3. Good aging resistance
Viton rubber has excellent weathering resistance and ozone resistance.
4. Excellent vacuum performance
Viton rubber has excellent vacuum performance.
5. Excellent mechanical properties
Viton rubber has excellent physical and mechanical properties. The compression set at high temperature is large, but if compared under the same conditions, both nitrile rubber and neoprene rubber are larger than type 26 rubber.
6. Good electrical performance
Type 23 Viton rubber has better electrical properties and lower hygroscopicity than other elastomers, so it can be used as a better electrical insulating material. Viton rubber is generally only suitable for use under low frequency and low pressure, and the temperature has a great influence on its electrical properties. When it rises from 24°C to 184°C, its insulation resistance drops by 35,000 times.
7. Small gas
Viton rubber has a high solubility for gas, but the diffusion rate is relatively small, so the overall air permeability is also small. According to reports, the air permeability of type 26 Viton rubber to oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide at 30 °C is comparable to that of butyl rubber, and better than that of neoprene and natural rubber.
8. Poor low temperature performance
The low temperature performance of Viton rubber is not good, which is due to its own chemical structure. Such as 23-11 type Tg> 0 ℃. The low temperature performance of Viton rubber actually used is usually expressed by the brittleness temperature and the compression cold resistance coefficient. The formulation of the rubber compound and the shape of the product have a great influence on the brittle temperature.
9. Poor radiation resistance
The radiation resistance of Viton rubber is one of the poorer elastomers. Type 26 rubber exhibits a cross-linking effect after irradiation, while type 23 exhibits a cracking effect.
10. Excellent chemical resistance, oil resistance and temperature resistance
As a synthetic rubber, Viton rubber has excellent chemical resistance, oil resistance and temperature resistance, and the long-term use temperature is above 200°C. Viton rubber has the characteristics of high fluorine content, strong C-F bond, no unsaturated bond from the chemical structure, so it has excellent temperature resistance and excellent oil resistance. Since Viton rubber is called FKM in ASTM D1418, FKM is used to represent Viton rubber. According to the classification of rubber by SAE J200/ASTM D2000, Viton rubber is classified as a "HK" material. The original Viton rubber is a copolymer of hexafluoropropylene and vinylidene fluoride, which was developed by DuPont in 1957 for fuel tank seals, oil and gas seals and hydraulic system seals in the aerospace field.
The main use of Viton rubber
Viton rubber has been widely used in industrial fields. Used as O-rings, U-rings, V-rings, Y-rings, gaskets and other forms of static and dynamic seals. And some other components in the fuel and drivetrain.
Main features of Viton rubber sheet
Viton rubber sheet has the characteristics of excellent aging resistance, high temperature resistance, ozone resistance, oil resistance, high vacuum resistance, acid resistance and alkali resistance.
The properties of Viton rubber sheet
Viton rubber sheet has best oil resistance, flame retardant, high temperature resistance, chemical resistance and aging resistance. It is the heaviest rubber.
The main use of Viton rubber sheet
The Viton rubber sheet can work in air or oily or acid (alkali) 30% medium at a temperature of -20~+300℃, and is used to punch various sealing gaskets and backing plates. It can also be used to punch various seals, sealing rings, gaskets, cylinder mold shirts, and aerospace fields with high oil resistance, flame retardant, high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance.
