A Brief Introduction to Yoga for All Kids

Have you ever noticed someone sitting cross-legged at a quiet spot with their eyes closed? It’s most likely they are practicing Yoga along with meditation. This way of sitting is a called the lotus position and meditation is a means to find your true self by searching inside. It can start with a simple attempt to explore your subconscious. If both are done correctly, the benefits are far reaching. The ultimate goal is to reach peace within and then slowly explore the outside world. Just sitting in the lotus position has many benefits in circulating oxygen uniformly through enhanced blood circulation. You can sit in this position tirelessly for hours when required.

Lung capacity and flexibility

We still didn’t know clearly until this date how Buddha achieved nirvana and most is scientific guesses. Yoga is an alternative means of existing and spreading positivity. Everything doesn’t have a name and definition with specific outcome because everybody will have their own interpretation and understanding. This is one of the reasons the diversity in a class makes it more interesting. Adults with disabilities and yoga trainers often build a strong bond that brings positive changes like better coordination and an increasing ability to concentrate.

There are many yoga exercises aiming at increasing the body’s flexibility and improving the circulation of oxygen. It starts with learning to breathe correctly and in the later stages you learn to hold your breath for long periods of time in a specific posture. For example, you will be taught to inhale from left nostril and then exhale from right nostril and then vice-versa. This yoga exercise is an effective way to breathe more oxygen into your lungs.

Start yoga early for autistic children

Yoga therapy is a great way for children with Autism to forget about their problems and health. It helps them achieve special goals and learn new ways to exercise that don’t require specific skillsets. They learn and practice at a comfortable pace and most look forward to their yoga sessions. The sooner they start yoga the better it is for them as an improvement in their physical and mental health becomes evident.

Before enrolling for yoga classes, a trainer might like to visit the child’s home or have a video conference session to learn more about them with their family. Certain recommendations are made and they start attending classes in the studio or via video conferencing tools.

Bottom line

Some yoga trainers are qualified and certified to take sessions with children. Always ask for a trainer’s credentials to train children in the US. Do they have a certification for small kids? If your child is shy, they can learn from home through the video conferencing tools like many others. The child is allowed to watch and nobody insists that they start exercising immediately. Gradually after building their confidence, they happily start with basic yoga instructions. Soon their brain coordination with various limbs improves and their mental state is more positive.
