Rainwater collection unit helps farmers irrigate farmland

A glimmer of hope for farmers in the surrounding areas has emerged from the rainwater collection unit—Jaladhare—by Rainy Research and Product unit at Hadihalli in Chikkamagaluru.

Through the research institute, Michael Sadananda Baptist is carving out a niche for himself in the field of rainwater harvesting and the technology that supports it. The institute has installed pipes to systematically supply the farmers' land with water from the rainwater collection unit.

For 50 acres of land in Hadihallikademakki village, 12 farmer families have been receiving water from Jalandhar. Potatoes, beans, green peas, chili, radish, and ginger are among the crops the farmers have grown.

My farmland totals four acres. Three borewells I drilled are no longer operational. My struggle to start farming was real. My crop has been saved thanks to Michael through Jaladhare, "proclaimed Venkate Gowda, a farmer.

I was thinking about how to grow vegetables without water. Now that I can grow vegetables with the aid of water from the institute, "farmer Chandramma made the statement.

The research institute has set up a six-acre rainwater storage facility.

Baptist stated: "As of right now, the rainwater storage unit is used to irrigate 50 acres of farmland. Our team's goal is to help as many farmers as possible.

It will help farmers if a rainwater harvesting system is installed next to farmland. Community farming can be implemented if such a unit is set up, "He continued.
