Develop a 10MW utility-scale energy storage system with AES India and Mitsubishi

The first grid-scale energy storage system market for India has started construction thanks to AES India and Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan.

The solution will support the electric grid, which will be run by Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited of India (Tata Power-DDL).

AES and Mitsubishi Corporation will get the Advancion storage system from Fluence, a global provider of energy storage technology products, services, and solutions. Fluence is a joint venture between Siemens and AES.

It will be installed at a substation run by Tata Power-DDL in Rohini, Delhi.

The 10MW solution, which is expected to be finished later this year, would improve peak load management, frequency control, dependability, and system flexibility for more than 7 million consumers in the Delhi region.

AES Eurasia Strategic Business Unit president Mark Green said: “Adding Fluence’s Advancion energy storage solution will allow us to continue to contribute to the modernisation and enhancement of the electricity system in India.”

In order to balance distributed energy resources, such as rooftop solar, the research aims to show how energy storage is a crucial distribution asset.

Tata Power-DDL managing director and CEO Praveer Sinha said: “We are privileged to implement India’s first utility-scale storage solution in collaboration with AES and Mitsubishi Corporation.”
