Unzip the gnome SVG file and click to open it in Design Space (you must use the one that starts with svg- in the name or else it won’t load properly). Once opened, choose the layer you wish to cut out and size it appropriately for the type of banner you want to make.
Colour the layers as desired, making sure the padlock icon is closed to enable slicing (see our video on this topic for more information). When you are happy with your colours, click the Make It button at the top of the screen and choose the green standard mat as your cutting surface.
Cutting Instructions
The gnome svg file is a multi-layered design which gives you the option to layer up different colors of heat transfer vinyl or papercutting/cardstock to create a fun gnome craft. The file is available as an instant download. You can also use this gnome svg for cutting with vinyl-cutting machines like Silhouette or Cricut, stenciling and printing.
Using the Ungroup button in Design Space, separate out all of the different layers to make them ready for cutting. I recommend updating how the colour looks in Design Space at this point before you start cutting to ensure that you're happy with it.
Place your gnome base onto the green standard cut mat with the shiny side down. Press for 30 seconds with light pressure. Once cool, peel the plastic sheet off and carefully weed out all of the vinyl stars (or other unneeded pieces of vinyl) from the base layer of your gnome. Repeat the process for each of the gnome's other layers.
