Which robot to clean my pool?

From a simple manual broom to an electric robot, there are a variety of pool robots to keep the water clean and clear, day in and day out. Minimum budget or maximum comfort? Everyone has their priorities.

Suction robots for a clean pool

Complementary to the filtration and disinfection treatment of water, the maintenance of the pond is an essential operation to remove deposits stuck in the bottom or on the walls and eliminate debris that float. In cause: leaves, sand and other undesirable deposits (insects, dust...).

The economical option: the manual broom

This device, connected by a hose to the filtration pump and directed with a pole, collects leaves and large debris floating on the surface and sweeps the bottom. But it sends all the waste into the pool filter, which has to be cleaned more often, which is tedious and consumes water.

It is adopted: for small above ground or unsustainable basins.

The budget: between 150 and 300 Euros.

For trouble-free cleaning: the automatic pressure robot

Connected to a pressure booster or connected to a discharge outlet, the "Polaris" type robot, which also works with the energy of the pool filtration system, removes impurities thanks to the water pressure and propels them towards an onboard filter cassette. Advantage: no need to clean the pool filter. High performance, it moves easily in water, can clean the bottom of the pool as well as the walls, corners and stairs. However, its installation requires the intervention of a professional.

It is adopted: for basins up to 12-14 m long, whatever their shape.

The budget: between 400 and 900 Euros.

The ultimate: the plug and play electric robot

Immersed in water, this robot, totally independent of the filtration system, cleans your pond from top to bottom. Pre-programmed for one or more cycle times, it plugs into an electrical outlet or runs on battery power. Propelled in low voltage, it circulates throughout the pool, climbs walls, stairs, brushes the water line, collects debris in a cartridge, activates its brushes or pins and stops automatically at the end of the cycle. It can be programmed to fit the shape, dimensions, stairs, and some models are equipped with a remote control system. Among the latest innovations: the "Lift System" function to facilitate the robot's water outlet (and thus avoid back pain!) which rises to the level of the water line and is placed against the wall (Zodiac).

We adopt it: for large pools.

The budget: between 700 and 2,000 Euros.
