As soon as you hear about a presentation that you have to attend in your college, the first thing that comes to your mind is, ‘not another presentation, please,’ right? But, trust us it is much awful to give a boring and lifeless slideshow than to be an audience for the same. The thought of being a presenter in front of hundreds of spectators can fill students with dread as it is not easy to showcase your work to people with different point of views who are going to judge each line or statement that you are going to convey. Also, there are chances that one might end up making blunders while sharing information with the people. Practice and practice more

There are many students who can talk about any topic in front of a large audience at the drop of a hat. They are not hesitant to share their views and opinions. This is not because they have immense knowledge, but they utilize most of their time in practicing public speaking and technique to get it right. Standing there on a stage, flicking through slides, addressing people and mentors, maintaining proper timing is not a walk in the park. Know your audience

One of the primary rules that one needs to follow while working on the presentation is to know the people he/she is addressing to. For example, you can determine the jargons, abbreviations, which are appropriate to use without much explanation. Do not start with a whimper

Then you can gradually move on to your topic. Same goes for the conclusion as well because listeners remember ending as much as the beginning.

Make it a conversation

While designing your presentation, ascertain to include certain points that can prompt interaction with the audience so as not to drone on about the subject. Do not go on and on with slight changes in your tone as if you are reading from your document. Instead, try to make it as if you are talking to a friend by being lively. This will make whole presentation process captivating for you and the spectators, and this will persuade them to discuss the topic more with you rather than treating you like a talking robot.

Use visual materials carefully

You will find two schools of thoughts about visual materials: one section of people believe that images add interest and keep the audience engaged while others take them as unnecessary distractions.
