Did you know that college can be one of the most stressful times in a person’s life? Research journals consistently find college students to be some of the most stressed of all Americans. Why is it that college is so stressful? Well, college can be very stressful because so much of a person’s future depends on it. The chances of someone getting to pursue their life’s dreams may all be riding on how they perform on one exam.

Stress and college students interact in various ways. Being in college makes life more stressful. However, college students sometimes make their lives more stressful than they need to be, without even realizing it. For example, they don't try to pay for a paper and istead of it, try to do it by themself. There are some simple steps one can take when dealing with stress and college students in order to make their life less stressful.

College students take note, drinking may make life more stressful. It is true that many people drink in order to relax, however, too much drinking will actually make life more stressful instead of less stressful. Inappropriate or irresponsible drinking will also make life more stressful. If someone drinks too much, they will pay for it the next morning. This makes life especially stressful for someone if they are trying to study for exams. In order to reduce this stressor, that person should drink responsibly or do not drink at all. Of course, someone should not even consider drinking unless they are at least twenty-one years old.

When studying for exams, it is best to plan ahead. It is not advisable to read all of the chapters the night before the exam. It is better to take things slow and steady. For example, it is a good idea to do work on a regular basis, in short intervals. Someone who plans ahead will find it easy to complete all of their classwork on schedule. It is much harder and much more stressful to try to accomplish a month’s worth of work in just one night.

When looking for other solutions to stress and college students, keep in mind that so much of what matters with stress reduction is the actions of the student. It is true, occasionally life throws everyone curve balls that lead to an increased level of stress. However, most of the time, people are only stressed out because they allow themselves to be stressed.
