APM Terminals Pipavav (Gujarat Pipavav Port) hosted spices and Psyllium [Isabgol] customers in Unjha in January for a trade meeting.The APM Terminals Pipavav team welcomed the briefed customers how the Port can facilitate the Spice trade.The team elaborated on the port infrastructure and service competencies like the recently introduced 'drive through container scanning facility' and Web-Based Terminal Alert System, Form-13 (gate-in permits issued by terminal).The customers and the Pipavav team discussed trade issues and to share queries which were addressed through mutual discussion.Unjha located in Mehsana district of Gujarat and is known for its Cumin, Fennel, and Isabgol seed exports.

Mansukh Mandaviya, minster for shipping, informed on Wednesday that the cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the new ‘Major Port Authority Bill 2020’ that will give independent decision making power to all 12 major ports in the country.The port will have a corporate style management structure and will be free to fix port charges.The bill that is all set to be introduced in the current session of parliament will replace the 'Major Port Trusts Act, 1963'.The new law aims to ease settlement of disputes among port users, speed up decision making in land acquisitions and tariff changes, minimise operation and maintenance (O) cost, increase exports from the country and make Indian ports competitive in international markets with new technologies.“Under the 60 years old existing act, all major ports has to approach the government and related regulatory authorities to take even the smallest decision which tampers the operations and existence of state owned ports, particularly when they want to compete with private ports,” said Mansukh.

 In its new survey report ‘Agility Emerging Markets Logistics Index 2020’, the global logistics company reported that “India’s business fundamentals rank collapsed, dropping the market eight positions to 18th,” even though the country has maintained the second position in the overall ranking after China.The survey blames India’s fall in the business fundamentals sub-Index to the unevenness of policy across the country’s regulatory system.The ranking had two more sub-indexes: Domestic Opportunities Index & International Opportunities Index and India remained at second position for both.

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) chairman Sanjay Sethi IAS informed that the under-construction loading yard at JNPT for Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) will be open for business by June 2021.He was discussing the rail projects going on in JNPT with Railway Board chairman Vinod Kumar Yadav, officials of Indian Railways & DFCCIL on February 10 at the port.
