What to do if it’s “Float” or “DGPS” all the time during surveying?

In the last article we talked about the solution to the RTK "Single" problem. This time we will talk about if RTK has been in the "Float" or "DGPS" state during the measurement work, what should we do to solve this problem, obtain higher-precision RTK coordinate data, and help us better complete the measurement work .

"Float":

If the instrument displays a “Float” point solution, it means that the instrument has received the signal, but it still cannot be fixed. It may be that there is serious interference around the surveying area, such as magnetic fields, trees, etc., resulting in insufficient receiving satellites. At this time we should find an open place to rebuild the station. Check whether the base station and the rover are connected incorrectly, or try changing the radio channel.

"DPGS":

If it keeps displaying "DGPS ", it should be that the receiver has not received the CORS service. We can try to troubleshoot by following the steps below:

  1. If you use the “Data Collector Internet” mode at this time, check whether the controlor can connect to the Internet normally.
  2. If using the “Intenal GSM” mode, check whether the SIM card in the host is available (consult the operator).
  3. Check whether the server IP address and port, as well as the username and password are entered correctly. When connecting to the CORS private network, pay attention to whether the correct APN is set.
  4. Consult the CORS service provider to see if the account is occupied.
  5. Check whether the differential message format is set correctly.

There are many reasons why RTK cannot reach the "Fixed" status, but if you try the methods in these two articles, no matter what brand your instrument is, you can generally find the problem. Hope you all a happy measurement work!
